How Sport Massage Can Help Central Ohio Runners

Have you ever wondered if sport massage was the missing link in your active health regimen? Do your calves ache after that long run? Do you want to reduce the likelihood of a future injury?

I understand that for an athlete, not being able to train can make you feel depressed, lethargic, and can be a big step back. But the upside of any injury is realizing the importance of being healthy and that’s where I come in.

Typically people think of a sport massage as being held before or after an event, but it’s “deeper” then that. My goal is to enhance your performance by facilitating change in the body by maximizing range of motion and renewing muscular balance in the body; by shortening the long muscles and lengthening the short muscles, which could prevent leading to injury. Massage will straighten out the muscle fibers that are left in a “knot” after training, which enables the overused muscles to work more efficiently. The key to remember is to focus on the muscles relevant to your particular sport or activity.

Movement Massage specializes in incorporating deep pressure, neuromuscular therapy, orthopedic massage and stretching into the sessions in order to treat soft tissue injuries, such as sprains, strains, trigger points, and repetitive stress injuries. The benefit of getting a more therapeutic sports massage is to renew the muscles to their normal resting length and to help stabilize the hips and other joints for greater mobility. This therapy ultimately can improve recovery time and eliminate the possibility of injury. As stated by the renowned James Waslaski, “the majority of musculoskeletal pain conditions throughout the body are the result of muscular imbalance, usually due to poor posture and repetitive motion”. As an athlete, student and enthusiast of sports, I know that athletes of all ages could benefit from receiving this type of massage which focuses on your issues.
